Carpentry, small repairs, bike work, and computer trouble — sorted out honestly, by someone close by. Most folks just text me a photo and a sentence. That's plenty to start.

Some jobs are real, but too small for a big call-out: a quick roof patch, a door that never shuts right, a laptop problem that needs someone to actually sit down and investigate it. I help with that middle ground — hands-on, fair, and honest about when it needs someone else.

Twenty years on the tools

I've done a lot of things — that's kind of the point.

Twenty years building in the real world, plus a lifetime fixing my own bikes, cars, computers, websites, and Linux boxes. I'm not a specialist in any one trade and I won't pretend to be — but I've run into a lot over the years, so there's a good chance I've seen something like your problem. Finish carpentry is where I do my most careful work — doors, flooring, trim and millwork, and custom built-ins like walk-in closets and cabinetry.

This is the part of the work that can often happen remotely: a call, a screen share, logs, access, notes, and a clear next step.

I'm not an always-on support desk or a managed IT shop. This is practical help with setup, cleanup, maintenance, and troubleshooting when it fits.

An easy way to get started

The Practical Fix-It Block.

A short session or half-day where we make a list and work through what makes sense — good for a few small jobs, an annoying setup problem, or just figuring out the next step.

How it works

Start small. Decide after looking.

  1. Text me, or send a note. A photo and a sentence is plenty.
  2. I check fit and scope. Tools, parts, safety, and whether it's really my kind of work.
  3. We pick the useful next step. A reply, a visit, a Fix-It Block, a simple estimate, or "you need a licensed trade."
Honest limits

I don't pretend every problem is mine to solve.

I only take work I can do safely and honestly. I'm not a licensed electrician, plumber, mechanic, or contractor — and I won't pretend to be. If something needs a trade, a specialist, or a bigger outfit, I'll tell you.

Sometimes the useful answer is a clear no. This is simple. This isn't worth fixing. This is beyond what I should touch. This needs someone else. That honesty is part of the help.
